“Fashion fades, style is eternal” said Yves Saint Laurent, the founder of the famous French fashion house which is today owned by Gucci. Yves Saint Laurent founded the brand in 1961 after a short stint working for Dior. He was the style leader of his day introducing the women’s tuxedos, the trouser suit, the sheer blouse and the jumpsuit. In 1966 he opened the first luxury ready-to-wear boutique, realising an ambition to dress all women not just the elite. Â Since Yves Saint Laurent’s early death ing 2008, there have been a succession of famous creative directors including Tom Ford. Credited with empowering women through dress, today the brand is popular for its luxury tailored basics and leather goods.
