Over 150 years ago, Louis Vuitton was the personal box-maker of the Empress of France and soon after found popular success with his flat-topped travel trunks. This was the beginning of modern luggage as we know it today, and Louis Vuitton remains synonymous with quality fabrication, cutting edge design and high end luxury. In 1987, the company became part of Moet-Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s largest luxury goods conglomerate and the following year a line of clothing for men and women was introduced. Louis Vuitton products are primarily available at their own boutiques located around the world and through their website, with a small number of exceptions, to limit counterfeiting. Marc Jacobs has been the artistic Director since 1997.
