New York Fashion Week (NYFW)

New York, New York

One of the most highly anticipated weeks of the global fashion calendar, NYFW’s 2016 has reigned its trends down on us again in all its fashionable glory. From breath stoppingly fabulous to jaw-droppinlgy bad, NYFW always delivers fashion highs and lows, and this year has been no exception.

Runway NYFW

This is what Revoir loved and loathed!

We loved that Tom Ford created a whole black tie dinner experience around his collection, proof that fashion is about so much more than just clothes for all of us – even we mere mortals.

We loathed Kanye West’s underwear-clad installation models getting so hot they had to sit down – or worse, fainted – in the long wait leading up to the show. The clothes that finally appeared have been largely criticized, and many of the poor runway models couldn’t actually walk in their shoes.

We loved seeing 19 year old acid burn victim Reshma Bano Qureshi walk the runway for FTL Moda. Opening the show, the event marked the first time Reshma has ever left her home country and she looked amazing. More importantly, the strength she has shown is amazing.

We loathed the froers there for the wrong reasons. We’re talking the ones in oversized sunglasses who are there just to celebrity spot and take selfies, and not to appreciate the fashion on display right in front of them.

We loved watching Aussie brands taking a bite of the big apple! Zimmerman’s take on ‘80s disco and Dion Lee’s minimal, refined range made us feel very patriotic – and fashionable.

We loathed that we weren’t there in person!
