Australia Day Inspo: What to Wear to Every Occasion

REVOIR BLOG - Australia Day

Australia Day, another well-deserved day off (just in case you didn’t have enough time to soak up the sun over the Christmas season). It’s really just the perfect excuse to relax by the pool, throw a Triple J inspired BBQ, hit up the beach all day or sip ciders at the Pub.

To make it easier for you, we’ve thrown together some ideas that will keep you looking effortlessly chic all day.

The Effortless Beach Look

REVOIR BLOG- The effortless beach look

Have you been invited to a beach party? Stuck on what to wear?

The drama with this situation is you don’t want to look too overdressed for a day at the beach, but you still want to keep an outfit together that could take you out after…

Consider sandals and a brightly coloured dress (just remember that black attracts light and on a hot summers day you’ll feel the heat turn up).

If dresses are not your thing, how about a pair of shorts and a one-piece swimsuit to match. Throw your can’t-live-withouts in a colourful tote bag and you’re set for wherever the day takes you!

The BBQ Lunch with Friends

This is what Australian summers were made for, so keep it casual.

A pair of brightly coloured summer flats or espadrilles to really pop a loose-fit summer dress or denim cut-offs, and a boho-inspired cami.

Avoid anything white. BBQ’s normally entail snags, so you may end up with some pretty nasty sauce stains on your outfit that you’ll have a hard time concealing!

Wear an oversized hat or tie a scarf in your hair. It will protect you from the sun, but you’ll look gorgeous in the process.

Pack your sunglasses, sunscreen and essentials into a simple cross-body bag, that way you can keep them on you all day!

The “I’ll just have one more…” Evening at the Pub

No doubt, my favourite.

Nothing is more Australian than celebrating Australia Day with a bunch of strangers.

Closed-toe flats or espadrilles. There is nothing more frightening than having to manoeuvre your freshly pedicured and open toes around crowds in tiny spaces.

Short’s and a Tee. Keep it casual, comfy and classy. You’re going to be moving around a lot, maybe even sitting on stools - which can be a disaster in themselves. The alternative is a playsuit. A simple, classic look that you’re able to dress up or down - depending on where you’re going.

Add a hobo bag into the mix to keep your stuff handy and safe. Pack an oversized denim jacket or leather jacket to throw on in case the weather turns.

Every Australia Day is not complete without a quick check of the “What not to do’s!”…Please, at all costs - avoid the following: Wrapping an Australia Day flag around yourself, an Australian Flag bikini, Flag Nail polish or a green and gold wig.
