Like it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Whether you are loved up, newly dating or perfectly content being single, getting ready this Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a labour of love!

There’s a different Valentine’s style in all of us. We’ve put together five key style trends to have you feeling your most loveable this V-Day. The big question is; how do you want to play it this Valentine’s Day?

Dress to impress this Valentine’s Day- 5 key styles set to stir!

The girl next door

Nothing says romance quite like fresh, feminine florals. If fun and flirty is your style this year, you can’t go wrong with a boat neck, backless summer dress. Cut above the knee and paired with some strappy sandals and you’ve got the dreamy, feminine-yet-flirty look covered.

Perfect Occasion: First date jitters and you don’t want to give away too much? You’ll look so sweet he’ll want to take you home to meet Mum and Dad after one dinner date. So watch out!

Turn up the heat with a little lace

There are two reasons why women shy away from lace- too girly and too bridal. I’m here to tell you to let go of those assumptions because lace isn’t even a trend, it’s a style in itself which has been around since the dawn of fashion. It all comes down to how you wear it.

Usually, we see lace in evening dresses, cocktail attire, autumn and winter collections. But lace has been a big feature in street style this summer. So if black lace feels a little heavy for February, go for white. Think summer festivals and edgy resort-style that adds a little romantic chicness to your look. Why not try cropped white lace tops, lace shorts or skirts, or a lace pencil skirt if you’re headed out for martinis this Valentine’s Day. And don’t be afraid to pair it with statement jewellery, sneakers or a simple tee to give it your own unique street style.

Perfect Occasion: Date night with hubby and you’re ready to turn the heat up…

Channel your inner femme fatale

Nothing screams love, lust and seduction like the colour red. So if you’re ready to turn heads this Valentine’s Day, why not pair a scarlet strapless dress with nude pumps and hit the town. You can’t go wrong with exposed shoulders this season, and a fitted bodice and tulip hemline flatters all the right places. There’s no doubt you’ll be feeling your most confident self in a striking red dress this V-Day.

Perfect Occasion: Looking to catch the attention of your colleague who only ever sees you in a grey pencil skirt and suit jacket? Shake things up and invite him for a sundowner next Tuesday evening…

Whip out the LBD

A little black dress can always be counted on to deliver a stunning look with little extra effort. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and fabrics, leather, lace, tulle or some sparkle. A fit and flare mini dress is perfect for the summer heat, paired with strappy sandals for a modern, sexy look. Perfect if you’re headed straight out after work and running short on time. Ever classy, ever-appealing; every woman needs a little black dress that makes them feel effortlessly fabulous.

Perfect occasion: Last minute Tinder date and you’re wanting to retain a little mystery…

A little couch time

For those of us who would prefer to stay in this V-Day, a date on the couch sounds great! Dial in your favourite Uber eats and throw on the latest guilty pleasure Netflix series. However, this doesn’t mean you still can’t get into the fun of all things fashion. Why not throw on some silk pyjamas and slippers, or an oversized linen tee and leggings to have you feeling luxe!

Perfect Occasion: Netflix with your BF or takeaway & chick flicks with your besties – the choice is yours! Just don’t forget the popcorn!

I don’t tend to take Valentine’s Day too seriously, but any excuse to throw on a great set of heels, a smack of red lippy and head out on a dinner date is perfectly fine with me. Enjoy, ladies, and I’d love to hear your style tips in the comments below.
